As the days grow shorter and the land begins its slow descent toward winter, you are invited to follow nature's rhythm by turning inward. This series weaves together plant medicine, folklore, mythology, ritual, and hands-on herbal craft to help us deepen our relationship with both the living world and ourselves.

Each gathering centers around seasonally appropriate medicinal plants whose stories illuminate their healing gifts. These myths are more than memorable tales—they are part of the medicine itself. Hosted by artists & herbalists Alyssa Dennis (Eclipta Herbal) & Lisi Stoessel (Motherwort Apothecary) this collaboration combines herbal mastery within an immersive theater experience.

The series includes 3 ticketed events marking the progression of fall, each offering a multisensory exploration of seasonal herbs & guided remedy-making. Participants will go home with a handcrafted herbal creation.

All backgrounds and experience levels are welcome.

Advanced registration required.

AGES 18+ ONLY

Workshop I: Spirits of the Harvest — Saturday 10/17 5pm-7pm
Mugwort & Rosemary | Dreaming & Memory

As autumn reaches its peak, we honor the threshold between the visible and unseen worlds. Working with Mugwort and Rosemary, we'll create protective, empowering incense bundles while exploring dreaming, memory, and myth through storytelling. Together we'll visit the ancient Nine Herb Charm—the earliest known poem written in Old English, beginning with Mugwort herself—and reflect on what we are ready to release with the falling leaves.

Workshop II: Tending the Hearth — Saturday 11/7 5pm-7pm
Burdock & Astragalus Roots | Sustenance & Ancestors

As the landscape grows bare, we gather around the symbolic hearth—the place of warmth, nourishment, and remembrance. Together we'll prepare a nourishing herbal decoction with astragalus and burdock to strengthen our bodies and bring us home to ourselves. We’ll reflect on those who came before us, and participate in a simple transformative fire ritual to ready us for the winter season. Through ancestral reflection, herbal brews, and seasonal stories, we'll explore how roots can sustain us through times of transition.

Workshop III: Light in the Darkness — Sunday 12/6 5pm-7pm
Evergreens, Orange & Clove | Inner Light & Gifts

As the year reaches its darkest point, evergreen trees remind us of life's enduring presence. Surrounded by the scents of bright citrus and warming spices, we'll create traditional pomanders of orange and clove while sharing hot mulled cider. We’ll explore the practices and folklore around solstice celebrations, and reflect on the gifts we carry into the winter season. Through story, ritual, and craft, we'll celebrate resilience, hope, and the quiet light that continues to shine even in the deepest darkness.

Location: The Motherwort Apothecary Kitchen, Bolton Hill, Baltimore, MD (full address sent to those who register)

Refund Policy: Tickets are refundable up until 72 hours before your workshop. After that time they are nonrefundable. Please let us know if you cannot make a date asap so we can open up a spot for someone else.
